About the Restaurant
A small, cozy spot run by a man and a woman, serving up delicious tonkatsu set meals. If pork isn’t your thing, they also offer chicken tonkatsu and shrimp tempura.
Reservations: Not available.
Walk-ins
There is usually a wait due to the restaurant’s small size and the fact that everything is made to order. Knowing this in advance, I arrived before lunch service started. I got there at 11:15 AM, and there were already four people ahead of me. The doors opened promptly at 11:30. Myself and the first group of diners finished around 12:10, meaning those behind us ended up waiting over 45 minutes.
To avoid a long wait, I highly recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before lunch or dinner service begins. Alternatively, you could try coming just before the end of the service period, though I suspect there would still be a line. Also, the restaurant asks that the line form from the door and extend to the right (when facing the entrance from the outside), so keep that in mind if you’re queuing early.
Accepted Forms of Payment
Cash or credit card.
Special Notes
A sign outside clearly states that there is a 10% surcharge for foreigners. Don’t let this discourage you—it’s not a big deal, and at least they are upfront about it. Some restaurants apply this type of fee without informing customers, so I appreciate the transparency.
The couple running the restaurant are very kind and accommodating. The woman speaks a little English, but it’s hardly necessary since the menu and ordering process are straightforward.
With your set meal, you’re entitled to one free rice refill.
