Saizeriya – Subjective Review

Name: Saizeriya – Ginza

Ratings and Comments

Exterior – N/A
The restaurant is located on the second floor of a shopping center, so there’s nothing notable to report here.

Interior – 3.5/5
The layout and design resemble a classic diner. All tables are either booths or half-booths with a chair on the opposite side. The space is relatively open, which is a plus.

Menu/Price – 4/5
The menu deserves some credit here. There’s a wide variety of options, including pizza, hamburg steaks, pasta, salads, sides, and more. The biggest highlight, though, is the pricing—it’s unbeatable. You’d be hard-pressed to find a cheaper sit-down meal in Tokyo or even the rest of Japan.

Drinks – 4/5
There are plenty of drink options. The self-service station includes soda, juice, tea, coffee, and water. Alcoholic beverages include wine by the glass or bottle and beer, all at very reasonable prices. I usually just go for soda when I visit Saizeriya, but I’ve had a beer or two before as well.

Food – 3.5/5
The food can be hit or miss, but after coming here enough times, I know what I like and what I don’t. I usually stick to pizza and pasta, and my favorites are the Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese Pizza and the Spaghetti with Tomato and Pancetta. In general, their pastas and pizzas are solid choices.

However, if it isn’t obvious from the picture on the menu, I should caution you about their Carbonara. Unlike traditional carbonara, where the egg is briefly cooked with the pasta, Saizeriya serves it with a peeled, lightly boiled egg placed on top. Just something to keep in mind if you’re thinking about ordering it.

Staff – 3.5/5
The staff work quickly, taking orders and bringing out food with efficiency. As I mentioned in my objective notes, you likely won’t need much interaction with them beyond that.

Restroom – No restroom inside the restaurant.

Conclusion – 3.5/5
Even with a near-empty wallet, you can still feel like royalty here. Sure, not every item on the menu is a winner, but if you can find one—or two, or three—that you enjoy and still walk away with a bill under $12, I’d call that a win.
